This book has four chapters. The first chapter, entitled winter maintenance methods, describes strategies for controlling ice and snow, consumables in the process of winter maintenance of roads, influencing factors on the melting ability of consumables, various methods of using these materials in It deals with the process of winter maintenance, the superiority and shortcomings of anti-icing materials and the method of tests for the evaluation of anti-icing materials. The second chapter, titled ice and snow control on the roads, has been compiled with the aim of defining the levels of winter maintenance service, its determination methods, choosing the appropriate winter maintenance method, determining the amount of consumables and the decision-making process in the winter maintenance process. The third chapter deals with the movement of deicing materials in the environment, the challenging compounds of these materials, their adverse effects on water, soil, vegetation and air. The fourth chapter, entitled the effects of chemical deicers on asphalt pavements, investigates the effects of deicers on bitumen, mineral aggregates, physical chemical reaction between aggregates and deicing solutions, adhesion between bitumen and aggregate.
